ANA XC Excels Again in the Pacific Cluster II Meet

Army and Navy Academy Cross Country again excelled at the Pacific Cluster II meet. The meet was hosted by the Rock Academy and held at Liberty Station, located on the grounds of NTC Park in San Diego, on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. There were three races that day – JV boys, JV/Varsity girls, and Varsity boys.
In the Varsity race, Senior Cadet Aren Johnson again showed his league dominance by destroying the rest of the field. He placed first (ahead of 53 other runners) with a time of 16:33.09, finishing 16 seconds ahead of his closest competitor.
Junior Jake VanCleve was also impressive, finishing 21st with a time of 19:44.88, a personal best for the 5K. Sophomores Harrison Zhang and Arthur Chang had good showings, finishing 29th and 30th respectively; Zhang with a time of 20:31.66 and Chang with a time of 20:33.75. Again, both achieved personal bests for 5,000 meters.
There were 30 runners participating in the JV race. Sophomores Cory Zhang was the Academy’s top finisher, placing 9th with a time of 22:25.97. Jason Han finished 12th with a time of 22:30.59, and Jielun Zhang finished 16th with a time o 23:14.41.
Next up, the team travels to Kit Carson Park in Escondido on November 14 for the Coastal Conference Finals. Races begin at 3:15, and we hope to see lots of Warrior Fans out there to cheer on our team.
