Announcing Honored Guests at Veterans Day Event

10 Man Color Guard - Veterans DayArmy and Navy Academy is pleased to announce the Honorary Commander of the Troops and Representatives of the Services who will be honored at this year’s Veterans Day event on November 11, 2015.

Honorary Commander of the Troops: 1LT Charles Pedrotta, USA

1 LT Pedrotta is a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran who served in World War II as a B-24 pilot. He was shot down on his 18th mission over Germany and became a P.O.W. at Stalag Luft 1 until the end of the war.

U.S. Army Representative: Private First Class Murray Awerman, USA

PFC Awerman is a World War II veteran who served in Engineer and Signal Corps commands. He was hospitalized in Frankfort, Germany then transferred back to the United States. He is a 100% disabled veteran.

U.S. Navy Representative: Commander Glenn Tierney, USN (Retired)

CDR Tierney is a World War II veteran who flew Corsair aircraft from several aircraft carriers in search of enemy submarines in the South Atlantic. He retired after distinguished career in naval aviation.

Veterans Day Raising flag on mt suribachiU.S. Marine Corps Representative: Sergeant Major Henry Hatchett, USMC

SgtMaj Hatchett is a Vietnam veteran who enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17. He served for 32 years, spending his last 12 as a Sergeant Major. He retired in 1993 as the Sergeant Major of the First Marine Division.

U.S. Air Force Representative: Colonel Kenneth R. Hughey, USAF (Retired)

Col. Hughey is a retired USAF Colonel and pilot who flew 564 combat missions in Vietnam where he spent over 6 years as a P.O.W. He later became an Aerospace Engineer and most recently retired after 13 years as a Criminal Prosecutor and Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney.

U.S. Coast Guard Representative: Petty Officer First Class Tom Morrow, USCG (Retired)

PO1 Morrow served a total of 27 years, active and reserve, in both the Navy and Coast Guard. He served in Guam, Midway, and Hawaii as an airborne radar air control man.
