Army and Navy Academy is honored to host a ribbon-cutting event on August 22, 2023, from 1:00-1:45 pm on the main campus at 2605 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad, CA, to officially open the brand-new Fitzgerald Innovation Center thanks to a generous donation of $1 million by Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fitzgerald. The Innovation Center will house the Academy’s Aviation and Computer Sciences programs.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held be attended by Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fitzgerald, the Academy’s Corps of Cadets, faculty, staff, the board of directors, and alumni. Community members, elected officials, and members of the press are invited and encouraged to attend.
Academy President, Major General Peggy C. Combs, U.S. Army (Retired) shared, “We are honored to receive this generous donation from Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fitzgerald for the development of the Fitzgerald Innovation Center. Not only is this gift extraordinarily generous, but it also represents a generational commitment by the Fitzgerald family to the Army and Navy Academy as the family previously donated funds for the establishment of The Fitzgerald Science Building.“
Following the ribbon cutting, tours of the Fitzgerald Innovation Center will be offered.
