Civil War Living History Event: January 9

Civil War ReenactmentArmy and Navy Academy is hosting a living history event on Saturday, January 9, 2016. This is a mandatory training event for all Cadets and an exceptional opportunity for them to learn about an important time in our nation’s history.

The event will focus on the U.S. Civil War and will feature over 100 reenactors and role-players to include Abraham Lincoln, General and future president Ulysses S. Grant, and General Robert E. Lee. The role-players will give short presentations, and will later be open to take questions from Cadets and spectators.

It will feature 12 different stations designed to expose Cadets to the following aspects of the Civil War:

  • Camp Life and Cooking
  • Close Order and Saber Drill
  • First Aid
  • Weaponry
  • Calvary and Armory
  • “Meet the Generals” featuring Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee
  • “Meet the Presidents” featuring Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis

The event will be held on campus from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. The Cadet uniform will be ACUs. Although attendance is mandatory, this is not a Closed Weekend – Cadets may depart campus after 4:30 PM.
