Happy New Year from Army and Navy Academy! We hope you enjoyed the holiday season with your Cadet, and that 2016 brings you joy and success.

Civil War Renactment 2Civil War Living History: January 9

Army and Navy Academy is hosting a Civil War living history event on Saturday, January 9, 2016. This is a mandatory training event for all Cadets and an exceptional opportunity for them to learn about an important time in our nation’s history.

The event will feature over 100 reenactors and role-players who will lead 12 different stations designed to expose Cadets to the following aspects of the Civil War:

  • Camp Life and Cooking
  • Close Order and Saber Drill
  • First Aid
  • Weaponry
  • Calvary and Armory
  • “Meet the Generals” featuring Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee
  • “Meet the Presidents” featuring Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis

The event will be held on campus from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM. For more information, please contact Mike Basista.

Final Exams: January 26-29

After a long winter break, Cadets are ready to take on the challenge of a new semester. Final exams begin later this month, and Cadets and teachers are working together to prepare. If you have any questions about your son’s academics before exams begin, please contact his counselor.

Surf - Jake FainWinter Athletic News

A popular winter club sport is our surf team, and we’re very proud to be the only military school in the United States who has one! The Academy will host a meet on January 9-10. Our Cadets will compete on January 10. If you’re able, come out to the beach to cheer for the Warriors!

The basketball program is one of our most successful at the Academy, recently reaching the semi-finals of the Under Armour Holiday Classic National Tournament. This month, the team plays at home on January 6, 20, and 22. All games are held in the Duffield Sports Center and begin at 6:00 PM.

The soccer team is led by inspirational head coach Mindes Dorlean. Even when the scores don’t go in the Cadets’ favor, he encourages them to never give up. It’s great to watch! You can catch a home soccer game on Maffucci Field on January 12 at 3:30 PM or January 28 at 6:00 PM.

Wrestling has seen some great success this season with many team and individual victories under coach Roye Oliver, former World Champion and U.S. Olympic Team Coach. Their next home meet is on January 14 at 4:00 PM.

As athletic schedules are subject to change, please check online for the most current calendars.
