Second Win Over Rock Academy Brings Warriors to the CIF Playoffs

The Warriors of Army-Navy played the Warriors of Rock Academy in a re-match of Wednesday’s home game in which Army-Navy won 4-3. This last regular season game would determine the final standings for the up-coming CIF Division V Playoffs.

Our Warriors started Lucas Howes and he pitched 6 marvelous, scoreless innings. In the 7th inning with two outs and the Warriors leading 7-0, Rock Academy rallied to score 5 runs. James DeLuciawas called on to pitch in relief and got the final out without any further damage being done. The Warriors won, 7-5.

The Warriors played an outstanding game and to a player were committed to winning the game. In short they gave it their all. We are all very proud of them and what they have accomplished.

The win vaulted the Warriors to the 3rd position out of 21 teams in the CIF Division V Power rankings. The victory not only assured the Warriors of a playoff berth but also the possibility of a round one home playoff game.  It is now up to the seeding committee of the CIF which holds its meeting tomorrow to determine the playoff pairings.

In the past 11 years no Warrior baseball team has won more than 8 games and this is only the second time in 11 years that the Warriors have made the playoffs. They ended the season with an overall record of 11-9 and a 3-3 league record good enough for a tie for second in the Ocean League.

The Warriors are scheduled to play next on Tuesday, May 26 at 3:30. The site to be determined by the CIF.
