Warrior Baseball Falls to the Calipatria Hornets

The Warriors traveled 3 hours to play the Calipatria Hornets yesterday. Due to the heat (105 degrees at mid-day), the game started at 6:00 pm (97 degrees at game time).

It seemed to take the Warriors a couple of innings to get settled as errors led to the Hornets scoring 8 runs in the first 2 innings. Once the Warriors settled in, they held the Hornets scoreless the rest of the way.

But, the damage had been done. The Warriors went on to score 5 runs of their own but fell short by games end 8-5. The hitting hero for the Warriors was Lucas Howes who got on base four times.

The loss now places the Warriors in a re-match against the San Diego Jewish Academy. The loser of this game will be eliminated from the tournament. Both teams will be fighting for the right to play Calipatria in the fourth round of the tournament.

The game with the Jewish Academy was originally scheduled for Saturday but, due to religious reasons, the game will played on a different date yet to be determined by the CIF office.

With the loss, the Warriors record for the season stands at 12-10.
