Warrior Wrestling Update

Wrestling is now 8-1 and in first place in the Southern Coastal League Division. They won all 3 Dual Meets yesterday at Mt. Empire High School.

League standings for wrestling are as follows:

Army Navy 8-1

Guajome Park 7-2

Mt. Empire 3-6

Julian 0-9

The Academy is so proud of the wrestling team. They have put in months of hard work and it shows.

Their team is lead very some talented coaches:

  • Roye Oliver, Head Wrestling Coach: Oliver was an alternate on the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team, a three-time All-American at Arizona State, and member of the Arizona State and state of Nebraska Wrestling Hall of Fame. He coached the U.S. Olympic team in 1996, and was also a national development coach. Oliver is the 2004 and 2007 National Veterans Freestyle Champion, and claimed the 2007 Veterans Freestyle Wrestling World Championship in Istanbul, Turkey.
  • Chris Colbert, Assistant Wrestling Coach: Colbert is a Mixed Martial Arts Fighter and has been wrestling for over 20 years.
  • Steve Nelson, Assistant Wrestling Coach: Nelson brings over 40 years of coaching experience to the Warriors, previously coaching at North Dakota State.
  • Dan Harris, Assistant Wrestling Coach: A National Place Winner in the Veterans Wrestling Nationals, Harris has been coaching for over 20 years.
