In the first half, the combination of outstanding running by the Rebels backfield and the learning-in-progress defense allowed the Rebels to jump to a 29-10 halftime lead.  The Warriors highlight was a Chris Salisbury a 41-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kava Aviu.

At halftime, new head coach Pat Fanene stressed the team’s first half positives and the never give up attitude, and also made some adjustments to their defensive and offensive game plan.

The second half started with the Warriors receiving the kickoff. Within 23 seconds, a 40-yard touchdown pass from Salisbury to wide receiver Leelye Kebede to update the score to 29-17.

The Rebels drove for a touchdown to make the score 35-17.

Our Warriors later completed a 66-yard touchdown pass from Chris Salisbury to running back Tim Mack to make the score 35-23.

Another 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter by Korey Warren brought the score to 35-29.

After making a defensive stop at the start of the fourth quarter, Tim Mack ran for an 8-yard touchdown to tie the score at 35.

The Warriors defense continued to improve and stopped the next Rebel drive.

The Warriors started a drive which resulted in a Tim Mack 4-yard touchdown run. The important extra point was kicked by Adam Labi. The Warriors took a 42-35 lead with 1:25 remaining.

After the kickoff, the Rebel began their final possession on their own 27-yard line.

On first and ten, the Rebels attempted a pass, which fell incomplete. On the second and ten the Rebels’ quarterback completed a short pass to their star runner. The runner broke a few tackles on his way to a 73-yard touchdown making the score 42-41 with 57 seconds remaining in the game.

The Rebels decided to play for the win by going for the 2 point conversion. Each team was presented with an opportunity to rise to the occasion. On the run play, the Warriors defense filled all the gaps and Isaac Ross made the game saving tackle at the 1-yard line.

On the pursuing kickoff, the Rebels attempted an on-side kickoff which was recovered by our Warriors.

Our quarterback took a knee on the final play as the clock ran out of time.

Warriors won, 42-41.  Warrior Pride!
