Associate Director of Alumni and Developmentathompson@armyandnavyacademy.org
Allissa Thompson joined the Army and Navy Academy in March 2016 with a diverse professional background that includes education, management, and fundraising.
A native of upstate New York, Thompson earned her bachelor’s degree in developmental psychology from Duke University, where she also competed in NCAA Division I cross country and track and field. She studied abroad at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia and completed an elementary education teaching certificate in the state of North Carolina. After returning to her home state, she worked as an educator and childhood literacy advocate in both the public and private sector.
In 2009, Thompson relocated to San Diego, where she transitioned to a career in management and quickly became immersed in numerous nonprofit causes in the community. An avid traveler, she combined her wanderlust with fundraising efforts in 2013 in support of Interplast Australia and New Zealand, spearheading an international fundraising campaign for a charity challenge that raised $180,000 and culminated with a trek of the Great Wall of China in 2014. Since then, she has embraced roles in fundraising, event planning, and nonprofit organization management for organizations such as Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside, North County Solutions for Change, Challenged Athletes Foundation, San Diego Youth Services, and Marine Reconnaissance Foundation.
