Chairman of the Board

Jeff Tisor ’85

JEFFREY TISOR graduated from Army and Navy Class of 1985. While at the Academy, he served as Class President and Cadet Battalion Commander. He attended the University of San Francisco on a four-year Army ROTC scholarship. He graduated in 1989 with a BBA in Finance and was commissioned as a 2LT(USAR) in The Army Corps of Engineers. After his Army service requirement was completed, he entered into the field of finance, specifically small-medium size Business Succession and Financial Planning. Jeffrey has been a Partner in the financial planning firm-RJL & Co. and a business owner. He is currently a consultant with K2, specializing in fraud prevention and investigations.

Bradley Larsen ’72

BRAD LARSEN attended Army and Navy Academy from 1967 to 1972, starting at Camp Pacific. He graduated at the top of his class and held the rank of 1st Lt., also serving as Class Secretary during his senior year.  He played JV and Varsity Tennis for Coach Harold Moses, holding the #1 ranking most of that time.  He attended Cal Poly University Pomona and Saddleback College earning a degree in Business.  The entirety of his career has been at his family’s privately owned, 5th generation 80 year old enterprise, Maclin Markets, Inc.  Maclin operates multiple Open Air Markets as well as the original livestock auction business in Southern California. He was nominated “Entrepreneur of the Year” for the Inland Empire.  Brad’s primary home is in Laguna Beach. He and his wife, Liza, enjoy traveling, visiting over 50 countries so far.

Sandy Kahn

A third-generation San Diegan, SANDY KAHN was born and raised in La Jolla, California, and received his undergraduate, law, and graduate education from the University of San Diego and possesses an S.JD. (Ph.D) from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Since 1973, Mr. Kahn has served as Chairman and CEO of Kent Holdings, and its various affiliates, historically one of the largest privately owned real estate development corporations in the United States.

Mr. Kahn has a long history of service to the community and has been formally commended by Congress for his distinguished business career and record of service to the Nation.  He served for five years on the San Diego County Board of Economic Advisors including two terms as chair of the Border Trade Group and the Military Affairs Group.  Mr. Kahn was appointed by the San Francisco Federal Reserve to serve on the “Beige Book” survey committee of economic indicators.  He was Chairman of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law for nearly a decade, where he was instrumental in relocating the school to its new building in the East Village.  In addition to his responsibilities at Kent Holdings, Mr. Kahn is currently Chairman Emeritus of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, a trustee of the Criminal Justice Legal Foundation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of DAMG Student Housing Partners.

His son Baron graduated from Army and Navy Academy in 2023.

Jack Wyatt ’63

JACK WYATT was born and raised in Pasadena, CA. As a “lifer” at the Academy, he participated in the Eleventh Naval District Champion Drill Platoon and Masque & Wig drama club, served as Junior and Senior Class President, was on the Honor and Student Councils, played Varsity Football (Co-Captain senior year), received the Silver “A,” and was Cadet Battalion Commander. He earned the Alumni Golden “A” for outstanding service.

Jack graduated from UCLA in 1968 with degrees in Political Science, and later earned a Masters of Communication from USC while working at Southern California Edison. He served in the Navy Reserve from 1966 to 2001, achieving the rank of Captain and completing deployments including Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

In his civilian career, Jack worked at Southern California Edison for 28 years, retiring as Eastern Region Director in 1999. He was involved in various Inland Empire organizations and established Strategic Connections, Inc. in 2000, advising on public utility services.

Elected to the ANA Board of Trustees in 2006, Jack served as Chairman from 2008 to 2016. He and his wife Mary live in Temescal Valley and spend summers in Seeley Lake, MT.

John Burden ’63

JOHN BURDEN is a graduate of the Army and Navy Academy Class of 1963. Mr. Burden attended San Diego City College where he majored in police science; transferred to San Diego State University, majoring in political science; and graduated from California State University Los Angeles, with a major in police science and administration in 1973. While attending college, he was also employed by the City of Coronado Police Department as a Police Officer. He joined the Riverside Sheriff’s Department in 1968 as a Deputy Sheriff, where he remained until his retirement in 1999. During his tenure working for the County Sheriff, he served in all operational functions of the Department, field and investigative operations, custody duties and administrative services where he was assigned to the Sheriff’s Academy as a training supervisor and manager. After retiring from the Sheriff’s Department, he worked as a GED Examiner with the Riverside County Superintendent of Education. Mr. Burden holds a lifetime Teaching Credential in the State of California. He currently resides with his family in San Jacinto, California.

Griff Lewis

GRIFF LEWIS is a retired operations executive. He worked for Baxter Healthcare for 32 years in a number of positions in operations, supply chain, and project management. Prior to Baxter, Griff served for seven years on active duty as a Captain in the US Army. During his career, he lived in several US states as well as Germany. While with Baxter he had responsibility for the export operations giving him the opportunity to travel to many countries in Europe, Asia, North America, South America, and Australia. Griff’s undergraduate degree is in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He also has a Masters in Business Administration from
the University of Chicago. Griff and his wife, Barbara, got married in 1976. They moved to Carlsbad in 2014 after having lived in Illinois for 25 years. It was a great opportunity to escape the cold winters and to be closer to their two children. Their daughter, Christie, is an English, middle school teacher and lives in Henderson, NV. Their son, Jimmy, his wife Meredith, and two daughters live in Burbank. Jimmy is a Data Director working for Amgen. Meredith is a doctor in radiology at Kaiser Permanente Hospital.

Lisa Meyer

LISA MEYR is a long-time patron of Army and Navy Academy. As the former president of the Army and Navy Academy Patrons Association, she worked with families across the Academy community to help facilitate communication between ANA and Warrior families. Her son Jacob graduated from Army and Navy Academy and is currently attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. His younger brother, Tate, graduated from ANA in 2024 and currently attends Dartmouth.

RADHA THOMPSON is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Caliber HomeLoans. Radha started at Caliber Home Loans in July 2013 and is currently based in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.

Justin Tipp ’85

JUSTIN TIPP graduated from the Academy in 1985 as a top leader (HQ Company and Drill Team Commander) and star athlete (CIF All-League Football and Track, and National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Scholar-Leader-Athlete Awardee). Today, he is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at First Republic Investment Management. Mr. Tipp joined First Republic in 2012. Previously, Mr. Tipp was a Senior Portfolio Manager for U.S. Bank’s Private Client Reserve where he oversaw the management of sophisticated individual and institutional portfolios and private foundations. Prior to his tenure at US Bank, Mr. Tipp was an estate planning attorney and before becoming an attorney he was a Financial Advisor with Prudential Securities, specializing in strategies for high net worth individuals, non-profits and private foundations. As a member of the non-profit community, Mr. Tipp served on the Board of Trustees and chaired the finance committee for the North Coast Repertory Theatre in San Diego for four years. Mr. Tipp obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington and spent a term at Oxford, England. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law and is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California. Mr. Tipp holds the Certified Financial Planner designation and is a Chartered Financial Analyst candidate.

Jim Weber

JAMES J. WEBER holds a B.S. in Industrial Management, and M.S. Industrial Engineering and currently serves as President and CEO of Wyvern Technologies, Inc. which he founded in 1984. Prior to founding Wyvern Technologies, Jim served as Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Vice President and General Manger and President of several national and international companies. Mr. Weber, a qualified Army Parachutist, served as a Regular Army Officer reaching the rank of Major in five years. During the Vietnam War, he served as a Field Artillery Officer in the 1st Brigade (Airborne), 1st Cavalry Division, where he flew in over 450 combat sorties. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, three Air Medals, the Army Commendation Medal and several other decorations. Mr. Weber started Bellamo Hills Vineyards, Perris, California, in 2002. He consults on the advisory boards of two companies. He has served on the Gannon University National Alumni Board for eight years. He currently lives in Tustin. His grandson, Brian, is an Army Navy graduate.

Jorge Artiles ’96

JORGE ARTILES has been an active member of ANA’s Alumni Association for many years. He began his focus on community engagement as the ASB President for the Class of ’96. Following his graduation from ANA, Jorge went on to earn his bachelor degree in business from Vanguard University and began his career in commercial mortgage financing. He rose through the ranks at RE/Max and became the Director of Acquisitions & Development. In the past 15 years, Jorge has shifted into banking and became the Vice President of Retail Banking and Financial Services for JP Morgan Chase. Currently, Jorge founded The Hardd Mix Companies, a Michelada company, and concurrently serves as the CEO of Veracor Financial.

Driven by integrity, faith, and dedication to serve and improve the community, Jorge is humbled and honored to have been elected as the ANAAA President. He looks forward to using his experience to serve the Academy’s alumni and improve the quality of youth and leaders of tomorrow.

John Schauer

JOHN SCHAUER has over 25 years experience as President, Vice President, and CEO in Composite Engineering and Manufacturing, servicing the Aerospace, Automotive and Marine industries.  As the ANAPA President Trustee, John brings a parent’s perspective to the board about real time events, ensuring parents voices are represented.  John works tirelessly to improve communication between Parents, Cadets, Facility, the President, and the Board of Trustees.  John is a dedicated husband and father of a current Army and Navy Academy Cadet .  In his free time, he enjoys aviation and boating at Lake Havasu City, AZ

Senator David Kelley ’47

SENATOR DAVID G. KELLEY is a graduate of the Army and Navy Academy Class of 1947. He attended California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, majoring in citrus fruit production. His education was interrupted by service as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Senator Kelley has been a successful citrus rancher in the Hemet, Calif., area for more than 40 years. Active in the Riverside County Farm Bureau since 1955, he has served as both president and vice president, as well as on the board of directors of the California Farm Bureau Federation. Mr. Kelley was elected to the California state Assembly in 2000 to represent the 80th Assembly District. Before that, he served eight years in the California state Senate. Prior to term limits, he served 14 years in the Assembly, where he was first elected in 1978. He has served as director of the Hemet-San Jacinto Basin Resource Conservation District and president of the Century Club of Riverside County. He belongs to the Hemet-San Jacinto Noon Exchange Club, the Lincoln Clubs of Coachella Valley and Riverside County, the Western Growers Association, and the Farm Bureau. He is also a member of Chancellor’s Agricultural Advisory Committee, University of California-Redlands; board of directors of the Hemet Hospital Foundation; and board of directors, executive committee of the Museum of Anthropology and Paleontology in Hemet.
