CSM Jerry Garcia
Command Sergeant Major Garcia enlisted in the Army in 1977, and served 21 years while being assigned to numerous places around the world. His first duty assignment was at Fort Bragg, NC where he served as a Paratrooper at the 50th Signal Battalion (Airborne) from 1978 to 1981. During these formidable years, CSM Garcia was deployed to various locations around the world culminating with airborne jumps into these areas with the XVIII Airborne Corps Staff and the 6th Special Forces (Green Berets). He was assigned to many units however the most memorable one was when he was an active Paratrooper, at Fort Bragg and with the Long Range Surveillance Detachment (Airborne) at Fort Drum’s 10th Mountain Division. Command Sergeant Major Garcia has 52 airborne jumps most of which were combat equipped but the most interesting one was with the Green Berets in Panama. He served in every leadership position, from Team Sergeant to the Command Sergeant Major for 57th Signal Battalion located at Fort Hood, TX. His overseas duty assignments include 2 tours in Korea, one tour in Germany, one tour in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, and one tour of duty in Oman. CSM Garcia is a graduate of the prestigious United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 51, and has a Bachelor’s of Science in Liberal Arts.
He is married to Elizabeth and they have 6 adult kids, 20 Grandkids, and one Great Granddaughter. The love of teaching and mentoring our youth continues to be his passion and feels blessed to be at Army and Navy Academy.
