Lea Kourakis was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Greece on the Island of Crete. Thanks to her diverse heritage of being Greek and Puerto Rican, Lea is proficient in three languages: Greek, English and Spanish. Out of high school, she went and worked on the naval base at Souda Bay Chania Crete, Greece for 5 years, gained her customer service and administrative skills along with her love for our military brethren.
In 2000, Lea came back state side and started working at the local Boys and Girls Club. She discovered the joy of working with children, seeing firsthand the different levels of learning and interaction. In 2003, she got certified as a Medical Assistant and worked in her first doctor’s office and have been in the medical field ever since.
In January of 2013, Lea joined the Army and Navy Academy family. It combines her love of children and military along with keeping her on her toes with medical skills. She enjoy knowing that she’s bringing a form of comfort to someone who isn’t feeling up to par and building that rapport with Cadets and families.
As the Health Center Medical Administrative Assistant, Lea strives to bring comfort to our Cadets, be it coordinating the medical treatment and care they need and deserve, or a supportive ear to listen and/or educate.
