Marley is the ninth grade English teacher as well as the Yearbook Adviser at Army and Navy Academy. This is her first year at the Academy, and she is the Adviser for the ninth grade class.
Marley enjoys working with the Cadets and loves choosing literature that will appeal to boys, to pique their interest in reading and writing critically about subjects they find interesting. Her goal is to trick the Cadets into enjoying reading on their own time! Her classroom is literature and discussion based, with a focus on collaborative processes to allow Cadets to make their own meaning of the literature read in class. Students are required to independently read novels they pick for themselves, as well as follow along with class texts.
Marley grew up visiting family in Carlsbad, California and loves living in San Diego. She spent 6 months living in Seoul, South Korea, where she made the decision to pursue teaching as a career. She attended California State University Northridge and received her Bachelor’s Degree in the subject of English, as well as her teaching credential for English Language Arts for grades eight through twelve. Marley is passionate about the subject she teaches, as well as her students.
In her free time, Marley loves to visit libraries to check out more books than she can read, hike, and spend time with family and friends.
