MSgt Lionel Saulsberry, USMC (R)
Master Sergeant Saulsberry has worked for Army and Navy Academy since 2016 and was the TAC Officer of Bravo Company. In 2020, he was promoted to the Assistant Commandant, Cadet Life.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on 25 October 1975. Graduating from The Rayen School in June 1994, he enlisted in the Marine Corps in May 1994 in the delayed entry program. He later reported to recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina on 18 December 1994. Upon completion of recruit training and MCT, Private Saulsberry reported to Defense Information Systems School, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana for Postal School.
In June 1995, after successfully completing the Postal School, Private Saulsberry was assigned to the Station Post Office, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan where he served as Postal Clerk, Rifle bearer for the Station Color Guard and assistant Commanding Officer driver. During this time, Private Saulsberry was promoted through the rank. As a Lance Corporal, he stood 23 Marine of the Quarter and Meritorious boards and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Saulsberry was ordered to report to Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily in February 1999 where he served as Fleet Mail Center section leader during Operations EAGLE EYE, PROVIDE PROMISE and SHINING HOPE. Corporal Saulsberry was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in December 2000. In March 2002, Sergeant Saulsberry received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
Upon completing Drill Instructor School, Sergeant Saulsberry was assigned the 2nd Battalion, Golf Company to serve as a Drill Instructor, Experienced Drill Instructor, Receiving Drill Instructor, and Senior Drill Instructor. In April 2004 Sergeant Saulsberry was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In July 2005, Staff Sergeant Saulsberry was ordered to report to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan where he served as Custodian of Postal Effects, Postal Supply Chief, Postal Financial Officer, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer of Camp Kinser Post Office, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control Postal Inspector.
In January 2007, Staff Sergeant Saulsberry was ordered to report to Service Company, 2nd Marine Logistic Group (Forward), Al Taqaddum, Iraq where he served as Operations Chief for the Al Taqaddum Postal System. Three months into His deployment, Staff Sergeant Saulsberry was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
After his return from Iraq Gunnery Sergeant Saulsberry received orders to The United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York where he served as an Assistant Marine Officer Instructor, Drill Master and 1st Company Officer for the Regiment of Midshipmen. Gunnery Sergeant Saulsberry was selected for promotion to Master Sergeant in December 2010 and received orders to MCAS Iwakuni in July 2011. He was promoted to his present rank in September 2011. Master Sergeant served as the Postal Chief of the Station Post Office, the Department Chief for Headquarters Company and the Acting Sergeant Major of Headquarters and Support Battalion. In June 2014, Master Sergeant Saulsberry departed Iwakuni, Japan and reported to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA.
From 2014 to 2017, Master Sergeant Saulsberry served as Operations Officer, Postal Financial Officer, Postal Chief and Quality Assurance, Quality Control Chief.
Master Sergeant Saulsberry has 2 sons; Miles ages 20 and Noah age 19.
