COLLEGE COUNSELING
The Academy has a proud tradition of sending graduates off to top schools. Army and Navy Academy alumni are currently attending top universities, including Dartmouth, Stanford, the University of Chicago, University of California Berkeley, University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles, and University of California San Diego, as well as service academies including the United States Naval Academy and West Point.
This road to success is laid at the Academy, where every student undergoes college and career planning with a college counselor in the years leading up to graduation. Counselors help students discover colleges that will fit their unique profiles and get the best possible start on a leading a fulfilling life after high school.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONALÂ COUNSELING
Our counselors are here as a resource for students as they experience a time of growth, accomplishment, and change. Counselors work to help both boarding and day students at Army and Navy Academy develop the competencies necessary to make self-directed, realistic, and responsible decisions. Counselors play a critical role in helping provide support to our male students through classroom guidance lessons, group activities, one-on-one support sessions, and school-wide counseling initiatives.
Our counselors also connect students with supportive educational tools and services like Tutor Doctor.
PEER COUNSELING
Students, especially in a boarding school, often seek out their friends or peers when they are experiencing a problem. For this reason, we provide a Peer Counseling Program, so students can reach out anytime and know that they will be understood and heard.
To prepare students for this important role, Peer Counselors attend intense training led by our credentialed counselors. During training, they work on listening and conflict-resolution skills. Peer Counselors, easily identified on campus by their blue and orange chords, are also trained by staff on how to identify if a personal situation should be referred to an adult counselor. Professionally trained counselors offer individualized and group sessions to support and address any issues that arise. Peer Counseling and Peer Tutoring are offered under clubs so students have time to meet and get training and support.
