Candace Heidenrich has worked in education for over 15 years. In addition, she spent over a decade of her career in corporate marketing and branding.
She holds an M.F.A. degree in Intermedia from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a B.A. in Humanities and Education from the College of Idaho. As an undergraduate honors student in the Lawrence Henry Gipson Scholar Program, she had the opportunity to spend a semester abroad in Oxford, England, where she visited private schools and did research on educational philosophy.
As a teacher, she has experience in the public school system, private schools, and at the college level. She spent four years teaching English in the public school system and then moved into private education. She taught for three years at Bel-Air Prep as Chair of the Fine Arts Department, a year at the Oak Grove School in Ojai, and three years at Long Beach City College as an adjunct professor. She was involved in spearheading wilderness trips, fine arts events, creative writing programs and new approaches to interdisciplinary studies.
Candace joined the Academy in January 2008 and acts as the Director of Admission. She is active in a number of associations which include: WBSA, TABS, AMCSUS, NAIS, CAIS, AISAP, OCPSA and the San Diego Consortium of Schools.
